Fancy Friday

Headed to Furbish this weekend to get some inspiration to work on our living room. Hoping to pick up some lovelies for our mantle.

What are your plans for the weekend, darlings? I'll be hanging out with this fancy girl...

Thoughts for Thursday

Bleh. That's one of my thoughts for Thursday. The downfall to year round schools is that we have a crazy, insane, long period of time (12 instructional days or more) AFTER the kids have taken the EOGs. We all know that learning can (and does) still happen, but let me tell you... these kids are done. Ding dang done.

After awards on Tuesday we had a great day that included an hour and a half of kickball. 90 degree temps and it doesn't even phase me or some of the them. However, most kids these days are pure-t wimps. I vow to enforce good ole outdoor time daily when we have kiddos. A little fresh air and vitamin d never hurt anyone.

Tomorrow is the last day of school (with these kids). Next week is workdays (M, T, W). We are headed to Lake Norman for the 4th. We are so excited to take Scout swimming and on a boat for the first time. Expect lots of pictures.

This is what I am envisioning...

What are your plans for the 4th?

Menu Monday: Fish Tacos

Anyone have a good fish taco recipe? We went to Yard House on Saturday for date night. Had the most amazing Baja Fish Street Tacos. To die for. Need to do some pinning to find a great recipe. I am a cilantro FREAK, so naturally I loved the fresh salsa that was atop these beauties.
My mouth is watering just looking at my picture again! We also enjoyed yummy beverages. Eric, a half yard beer. Sara, a sparkling wine (read: girly) cocktail. Just what we need after a long week.
In other news, Scout's new bowls came in from Ballard Designs. Love them and so does my girl! Waterhog mat from LL. Bean was also a great purchase. It really sops up the water.

She is getting so big! She's about 4 1/2 months now. Tall and lean, definitely growing into her paws. Despite the fact that my girl does not bark or growl (praise!), she still likes to watch the perimeter for us. She is about 44 pounds.

Congratulations if you read that entire random post. How gorgeous are our hydrangeas???

Fashion Friday: Wellies

Every time it rains (which is almost every day in the summertime), I wish I had a great pair of wellies. ESPECIALLY now that we have Scout. I love a good Southern summer thunderstorm, but I need the right gear for getting out in the rain with my baby girl.

I am thinking traditional hunter green. Thoughts?

Cheers to the weekend loves,

Thirsty Thursday: Testing

Thirsty. That's what I have been all darn week. During testing we are not allowed to drink anything. No coffee. No water. Nada. Please someone explain the logic in this?

Really need to up my water intake. 1 gallon too lofty of a goal? Would love to cut soda and coffee too.

Thoughts?

Teach Preach Tuesday

Today was day two (of four) for our testing week. It absolutely kills me to think the amount of time, money, energy, resources, etc goes into this. Millions. We tested for four straight hours today. Then straight into classes and a late lunch. I couldn't bring myself to force more material on them... I read to them. (Yes children still liked to be read to in the sixth grade). We are asking so much of the kids and teachers. Wish we could use this time to teach them what's really important. The best you can do is lead by example. Bless their hearts, I hope they are relaxing tonight.

Here's some Scout cuteness for you. She loves gnawing on her deer antler. (You know you're in the South when).

Fashion Friday: Lululemon

It is no secret that I LOVE lululemon. Their customer service is unparalleled. The staff at the North Hills store is super friendly, helpful, and insightful. Ordering online is a breeze and everything ALWAYS ships for free. What's not to love about that?

Here are all of some of the items I recently snapped up...

Run Inspire Crop II

Cool Racerback

Forme Jacket

Clari-tee Short Sleeve

The 'Cool Racerback' is the best top. Great for running, yoga, or just errands. 'Run Inspire Crop II' and 'Wunder Under Crop' are fantastic pants. The best ones out there. Super flattering and they don't fall off. What? That doesn't happen to you? Ugh, it does to me. Get running and next the thing you know my pants are sagging. Not with these babies though! Thankfully my MIL loves lulu, too. She loves to spoil her only girl!

Thirsty Thursday: Margarita Spritzers

Strawberry Margarita Spritzers (via Southern Living)
yields about 8 cups

1 (10 oz) package of frozen whole strawberries, thawed
1 (10 oz) can of frozen strawberry daiquiri mix, thawed
1 cup tequila (we prefer Patron Silver)
1/4 cup orange liqueur (we prefer Cointreau)
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 liter club soda, chilled
fresh limes & strawberries for garnish

Pulse first five ingredients in blender until smooth. Pour into a pitcher, and stir in club soda just before serving. Serve over ice. Garnish with fresh lime slices and quartered strawberries.

Bottoms up,

Weekend Recap

Home from a fabulous weekend celebrating the amazing bride-to-be, Brittany. The girls got started Friday night and I made it up Saturday morning. Limo service to the wineries was fantastic! We made it to three wineries with no worries! Our "base" for our alcohol fueled day was good old Lexington Barbecue. Excellent hush puppies!
Our first stop was Junius Lindsay Vineyards. It was so quaint, gorgeous, just plain perfect. It was so relaxing and a great start to the day.

Julie, Brittany, and myself. We've known each other for 22 years. That's crazy talk.

Next we headed to Weathervane. This one was idyllic as well. We enjoyed wine slushies on the front lawn with the vineyard dog.

Our final stop was Native Wines. Got some fun 'Raspberry Tea Wine' and it really is made from fermented tea! Yum. More wine on the limo ride home...

Bar hopped that night and I functioned as my girls DD. This of course led to me feeling (and being called) mom.

Sunday morning was topped off with some time with my parents. I mean we were in Winston after all.

Me and my beautimous mama. Rocking my lululemon faves. More on that later...
